Community Beautification AwardUniversity City’s newly formed Community Foundation held its first Volunteer Appreciation Reception and awards ceremony at Centennial Commons,  on Sunday February 28th.   Mayor Shelley Welsch expressed her thanks to all University City volunteers who work to make University City a better place to live, work and visit.

This foundation is part of the Fair U City committee, whose purpose is to recognize and honor volunteers in U City for their commitment to the city. The foundation’s goal is to be able to give small grants to those individuals and organizations that help to make our community strong.

The board of the U City Community Foundation will choose the honorees annually in several areas, Community Supporter, Community Advocate, Youth Advocate, and Community Beautification. The 2016 Community Beautification award was given to U City in Bloom.  University City in Bloom was honored to be given this award at this lovely ceremony.

Join us!  U City in Bloom is always in need of volunteers to keep the hundreds of public gardens and planters cared for during the year.  If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, click here for more information:  https://www.ucityinbloom.org/volunteers/
