U City in Bloom, in partnership with Pershing School and Lowe’s stores, received two grants that fully fund community/school vegetable gardens at Pershing Elementary School. The grants provide funding for sixteen raised beds; two of which are handicap accessible, as well as an orchard of fruit trees making Pershing Elementary the first University City School to have school/community gardens. The gardens will provide educational support to the science program and the opportunity for the students to have access to vegetables grown and harvested from the gardens.
