Littleleaf Linden – Tilia cordata

Location: Flynn Park, continue in a diagonal line from Wingnut

The little leaf linden is a large shade tree which can grow up to 75 feet tall with up to a 50 foot spread. Its shape is pyramidal to rounded-pyramidal. The leaves are glossy, dark green and heart-shaped. During the summer it blooms yellow flowers which are fragrant and showy. The leaves turn yellow in the fall. Many communities plant these trees along streets because they grow rapidly. However, the tree is sensitive to road salt. The leaves on this tree stay green until long after other trees have shed their leaves.
