White Oak – Quercus alba

White oak is a deciduous oak native to Missouri, grown throughout eastern North America for its hardwood timber. In the wild it can attain a height of 100 feet. Small male and female flowers appear in the spring following the leaves. Oval acorns with scaled caps are produced in the fall. The acorns can be shelled, dried and ground into flour for baking.
